Visit a Cocoa Farm

In the heart of the Tepa Kyekyewere community, in Ghana- West Africa, Shahamana Chocolate stands as a testament to the extraordinary impact one cocoa farmer, Nelson Nana Nyanteng Donkor, and his family can have on their community. Established in 2021, the name “Shahamana” is a harmonious blend of the first names of each family member, symbolizing unity and shared purpose.

What began as a personal quest for change has blossomed into a multifaceted initiative, encompassing cocoa processing, value addition, and an inspiring educational endeavor now collaborating with the “Chocolate Has a Name” project, to integrate cocoa processing into the daily learning experiences of children in the Tepa Kyekyewere community.

One unique way Shahamana Chocolate invites individuals, especially chocolate consumers, to engage with their transformative work is through the Farm Volunteer Project. This initiative provides an immersive experience into the daily life of a cocoa farmer, offering participants the chance to give back to the “Chocolate Has a Name” project in a meaningful way.

Opportunities abound for volunteers in the fields of education and agriculture. In the realm of education, volunteers with basic teaching experience can contribute to subjects such as ICT, creative arts, math, science, and more, directly impacting the local community school.

For those intrigued by the prospect of experiencing life on a cocoa farm, your journey awaits where every volunteer contributes to the sweet symphony of positive change.
